The U.S.-Syrian stand-off over Lebanon

While Bushites are dancing in the streets over the developments in Lebanon, one Bushite, David Frum, offers a more realistic appraisal of the forces at work in the present confrontation between the U.S. and Syria. In brief, the change the Bushites are already celebrating as a fait accompli—Lebanese independence from Syria—hasn’t occurred yet. And, according to Frum’s analysis, the only thing that can make that change occur is war.
