Who can tell the definition, so clear, of victory?

In response an earlier blog article today, “Bush’s false victory over his false opponents,” a well-known conservative writes:

I don’t agree with this article. The elections are a colossal defeat for the terrorists.

To which I replied:

Yes, the elections are a tremendous defeat for the terrorists—they’ve only been murdering Iraqis at the rate of about 25 per day since the elections. Today they killed over a hundred and wounded hundreds with one car bomb. Boy, I guess those terrorists must really be “desperate,” “on their last legs.”
