What I want in this election

The Id—if I may be allowed to speak in the jargon of Freud for a moment—is the instinctive and desirous part of ourselves that is in eternal rebellion against the reality principle. In order to live a balanced and functional life, we are supposed to adjust the impulses of the Id to the requirements of the ego, that part of the psyche which mediates between the external, practical world of reality and our internal, irrational desires. But just for once in this miserable presidential campaign, I want to express my political Id out loud, without repression. So here goes.

My deepest feeling about this election is: I want both tickets to lose, by a landslide.
