Encapsulating Kerry

We’re now at a new point of clarity regarding Kerry’s main positions on Iraq.

Kerry Position “A” (his main operative line from approximately mid 2003 to early 2004):

For months on the primary campaign trail, including numerous interviews and a major speech at the Council on Foreign Relations, Kerry said that he would not have gone to war without the approval of France and Germany. He was saying this with regard to a period of time, in late 2002 and early 2003, in which no one was questioning the existence of Iraqi WMDs.

So, his Position “A” was that even with WMDS, he would not have gone to war without the support of France and Germany.

Kerry Position “B” (enunciated August 2004, though Position “A” is still being used as well):

Now he says that even without WMDs he would have voted to give Bush authorization to go to war. But, since France and Germany had not been willing to support us when no one questioned the existence of WMDs, does Kerry think that in the absence of WMD’s France and Germany would have supported us? Impossible.

So, Kerry’s implied Position “B” is that without WMDS and without the support of France and Germany he would have gone to war.

Is everyone now looking forward to having a U.S. president, under whom we would have to spend the next four years mentally processing stuff like this?
