Sam Francis’s “proof” that the war on terror is a fraud

In Samuel Francis’s column, “Proof that We Don’t Really Care about Terrorism,” he writes:

Nothing quite demolishes the fiction that we are today “at war with terrorism” better than the release and rehabilitation of the real and largely unrepentant terrorist Kathy Boudin.

This is an illogical statement. The people who promoted Kathy Boudin for years and finally got her released from prison are the same New York liberals and leftists who also oppose everything the U.S. is doing in its “war on terror,” who take the side of every criminal and terrorist they can find, and who regard Bush and his supporters as evil fascists. To argue that the behavior of anti-American leftists “proves” that the rest of America is hypocritical in its opposition to terrorism, would be like saying that the presence of Communist spies and sympathizers in America during the Cold War “proved” that the Cold Warriors were hypocritical in their opposition to the Soviet Union.

Well, Wm. F. Buckley signed a petition for Boudin’s release.

Which proves nothing about anything. Buckley has been off on some planet of his own for many years now.
