Beyond The Camp of the Saints

Prime Minister Sharon says that it would be very difficult to remove Arafat without harming him, not only because his own security forces would fight to defend him, but because he is surrounded by a human chain of Israelis who are also protecting him. This is beyond The Camp of the Saints. In that novel, French open-borders types welcome a million Third-World refugees to their country. In the real life Israel, peacenik Israelis defend with their bodies the man who sends out suicide bombers to murder them en masse.

Arafat is close to a sideshow at this point anyway.

What Israel desperately needs, and what the Palestinians need just as much, is a Palestinian government with a monopoly on the use of force. At that point there will be a party to deal with.

Right now, creating that kind of authority for the Palestinians has got to be the number one goal for every sane person in the region.

The relevance or irrelevance of Arafat was not the subject of my post, but what the Israelis’ own behavior reveals about Israel and its chances of survival, and what it reveals about the liberal West generally and its chances of survival.

If there were any doubt about the diseased, suicidal nature of the liberal religion, this news item should remove all doubts. Israel, as part of our own civilization, is infected with this deadly virus as much as the rest of us. The west must repent of perish, there’s no other choice!

I mean to say, at least these Israeli protestors are not doing anything disastrous. After all, they are not yet sabotaging weapons being sent up to the front. Israel does have a malfunctioning political system that tends to breed extremists. I would be more worried if this sort of thing were to catch on in the general population.

I’m afraid we have a big problem with that same kind of mentality here in America.
