The Insanity of the Democrats, Part 29

Some readers will call me a phony right-winger for approvingly linking an article by Charles Krauthammer. But when a neocon is right, he’s right, and this column is one of the best retorts yet offered to the sheer lunacy that has taken over the Democrats in their blinding hatred of Bush. Its title says it all: From partisanship to pathology.

[The original article at TownHall is no longer online; I’ve linked another version of the piece at Jewish World Review.]

Re pathology, it should be remembered that before Krauthammer became a columnist, he was a practising psychologist. The democrats are indulging themselves in an obsessive hatred that has nothing rational about it. As to its causes, I think it is not so much Bush personally, who only serves as the focal point of the mania, as it is the appearance that events in the world are piling up in such a way as to discredit all their assumptions about the human condition. Thus their sense of personal identity is threatened.
