The utter stupidity of Bush’s appeal to the UN

A clearly argued and quite devastating article by Amir Taheri on the uselessness of President Bush’s attempt to involve the UN in Iraqi peace-keeping. As Tahiri demonstrates, the countries who might contribute troops as a result of the UN approval that Bush is soliciting can in fact add nothing of significant value to our efforts in Iraq. Yet, as is also clear, we can only obtain that nugatory help at the cost of handing the UN (the UN!) a significant say in what happens in Iraq, including the ability to hamstring and humiliate us.

Even if the “road map to peace” was not enough to convince you that there’s something seriously wrong in the upper brain circuits of the Bush administration, this will do it.
