Sullivan calls Frum “far right”

David Horowitz’s exemplary gay citizen, Andrew Sullivan, writes:

The latest tactic from the far right in opposition to gay marriage is that it will somehow destroy free speech. Huh? This is now David Frum’s gambit.

Got that? Sullivan regards the neocon David Frum as “far right,” solely because Frum is against same-sex marriage. Just take that in. A person is on the “far right”if he opposes this inconceivably radical change in the central institution of human society. And then remember that David Horowitz—a heroic figure in modern America who is nevertheless in the wrong in attacking opponents of the homosexual agenda—insists that Sullivan, who calls critics of gay marriage “far rightists,” is a conservative.

Got all that?

Sullivan has taken to calling anyone who holds to a traditional moral view of homosexuality as “far right”, and to conservative Christians as “Theocrats”, even comparing them to the Taliban. I stopped reading his blog weeks ago as his hypocrisy became tiresome.

Mr. Auster — no, I’m afraid I didn’t get it; went right over my head. Could you try explaining it? ;-)

At some point, one has to decide whether principle, whether _truth_, is important enough not to set aside for a misplaced notion of pragmatism. Mr. Horowitz has made his decision.

I would point out however that even some alleged bastions of moral values, like that great hypocritical opportunist extroadinaire William J. Bennett, have been critical of Conservatives who in his view are too fixated on the homosexual issue. And let’s not forget that supposed godfather of Conservativism Sen. Goldwater, who became a homosexual advocate in his own right before his passing.

It seems to me that those Conservatives who insist on defending the traditional family are increasing becoming, to use a phrase of yours, a minority within a minority. Not yet, but it’s getting there.

I don’t see any way to turn the tide. All we can do at this point is keep telling the truth as we are pulled down the sinkhole. Only the Lord can (and thankfully will) put the smackdown on this perversion.
