CEDAW Waits in the Wings

David Limbaugh points out that the definition of discrimination in CEDAW, The United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, clearly implies, among many other things, the legalization of lesbian marriage:

“Any distinction, exclusion or restriction made on the basis of sex which has the effect or purpose of impairing or nullifying the recognition, enjoyment or exercise by women, irrespective of their marital status, on a basis of equality of men and women, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural, civil or any other field.”

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee, with every Democratic member voting aye, has passed the treaty and sent it to the full Senate. According to Limbaugh, Democrats “plan to hold the bill until just before the November elections, thinking they can demonize Republicans if they vote against anything so beneficial to women. I say bring them on. Republicans should welcome the chance to inform voters about how pernicious this treaty is and expose these Senate Democrats as reckless stewards of American sovereignty and traditional values.”

The Republicans will hide in the basement.

With milquetoast Republicans like Lott and Hatch, plus overt leftist RINOs like Snowe, Collins and Chaffee, the propsects of any resistance are grim. Oh, and let’s not forget the White House, who could un-sign this idiotic treaty today. Are there any real conservatives left?
