No to CDAW!

Action Alert from Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute: say “no” to The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women! Just call W at 202-456-1111 and say into the recording “Mr. President, Un-sign CEDAW.” (CEDAW is pronounced See-Daw.) Also, email Colin Powell at secretary@state.gov and write, “Mr. Secretary, Un-sign CEDAW.”

Here’s the text of CEDAW and a Heritage Foundation Backgrounder, and here’s the email I got from CFAM:

Subj: Urgent Action Alert….Today
Date: Fri, 31 May 2002 15:14:35 -0500
From: “Austin Ruse — C-FAM”
————————————————————————————————
Dear Colleague,

As you read this, some U.S. Senators (Boxer and Biden), along with some in
the State Department are attempting to get the U.S. to ratify one of the
most dangerous and radical UN treaties ever written. We need your
immediate help to stop them.

The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against
Women (CEDAW) seeks to level every single distinction between men and
women at all levels of society including in the home. It is the Equal
Rights Amendment times a thousand.

CEDAW (pronounced See-Daw) seeks to drive women from the home and to drive
children into day care. CEDAW seeks to promote protitutes and condemn
mothers. CEDAW seeks the reinterpretation of religious doctrine. Sound too
strange and outrageous to be true? Here are the facts.

The CEDAW Committee at the UN did the following.

Directed China to legalize prostitution
Criticized Belarus for establishing Mother’s Day
Directed Kyrgyzstan to legalize lesbianism
Directed Ireland to legalize abortion
Criticized Ireland for the Church’s influence in public policy
Directed Libya to reinterpret the Koran to fall within CEDAW guidelines

Some in the US government are trying to get the US to ratify this
document! Amazing and stupid.

But, you can stop them. Right now the Bush Administration is determining
its position on this. You can affect their decision. Here’s how.

ACTION ACTION ACTION

Call the White House at 202-456-1111 and say into the recording “Mr.
President, Un-sign CEDAW.” (CEDAW is pronounced See-Daw). That’s all you
have to say to get your view recorded.

Then…

E-mail Secretary of State Colin Powell at secretary@state.gov and write,
“Mr. Secretary, Un-sign CEDAW.” That’s all you have to write to make a
little history.

Dear Friends, do this now! Do it now. And ask your friends to do it, too.
You are part of a national campaign in which all the major pro-family
groups are participating. We want to flood them with thousands of phone
calls into the White House and e-mails into the State Department saying
“UN-SIGN CEDAW!”

Do it right now……………..”Un-sign CEDAW!”

White House: 202-456-1111
State Department: secretary@state.gov

Do it now.

Yours sincerely,

Austin Ruse
President
Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute

Unfortunately, the above “secretary@state.gov” email comes back “undeliverable”. I have tried it numerous times, both with the subject (CDAW) in and not in the “Subject” box.
